Can’t wait to drive either at Circuit de La Sarthe or Nurburgring. The sunset as you approach Indianapolis at La Sarthe will be Epic!

epic driving skills. it’s always good to film AND drive at the same time. it probably is too easy to just film someone else driving proberly and get a good video and not some CRAP driving.

youtube should delete those videos. it hurts my senses.

For your information he stood waiting for an hour while other people selected Tokyo and Rome circuits over and over again.

His only choice was to step in a get the job done properly and film the new stuff we wanted to see.

me too. but as i do not own a xbox360 or a ps3, i can look at this war more objective.
there’s one important thing to keep in mind. microsoft has for sure sold many xbox 360s (and with it other games) because of Forza 3 and has sold many Forza 3s because GT5 was delayed again and again. so microsoft by no means is the loser by this war. they made their money, also with the help of sony and PD.
GT5 will be a success i think, but sony has the pressure on them, they COULD lose much if GT5 isn’t the afterburner all the fanboys are waiting for.

so for me, this round (Forza 3 vs GT5) goes to microsoft already.
    because microsoft can’t lose anymore.

you don’t get it! GT5 is revolutionary and will sell at least 7-8 million and 1-2 million PS3s as it’s an exclusive!

    so what?
GT5 can even sell 50 million copies.
you don’t get the point that microsoft made MORE money and gained MORE prestige and MORE fans as they normale would have if GT5 would have been released earlier or even before Forza 3. Sony worked for Microsoft and it won’t work the other way round.

Actually, Forza 3 at the moment sold just as many as Forza 2, around 2 million copies. The gain is quite minimal considering Forza 2 was released at the beginning of 360 cycle and there were fewer user-base then than there is now.

Just for the sake of comparison, GT5 Prologue sold almost twice the number of Forza 3 despite a lower PS3 user-base. When GT5 Prologue was released there were around 12 million PS3s sold. When Forza 3 was released there were close to 30 million 360s sold.

I know it’s all a bit pedantic but numbers can sometime tell a better story.

    I have a friend with a PS3
I have a friend with an XBOX 360

Then when I want a nice realistic experience with decent physics I will trot home load up rFactor and enjoy the MANY mods the community has given.

Oh and Stabiz, you could teach a lot of these guys how to make a pro- mo vid!!

You can view or/and download a better version of the night rally here: http://www.gamersyde.com/news_e3_more_gran_turismo_5-9526_en.html

The only reason the numbers because it can sometime be a bit more objective. Personally, I don’t own either system at the moment. I play rFactor on my 2 year old Intel Macbook Pro although I do plan to buy PS3 when GT5 comes out. It’s because I do love cars and I just happen to have a G25 wheel that works on the PS3 but not on the 360.

I was put off from Sony products after getting a used PS2 & playing GT2 or 3, then finding out that if I wanted to save my game, I had to buy an expensive crappy 8mb memory card. So I had to leave the console running all night till the shopped opened, to buy a Memory card! lol.
At the time we also had an xbox which had an 8gig drive.
Pretty much RFactor for me now, cause I enjoy creating my own skins for the game with an ever expanding community of mods etc & the tues night league racing where you can see all the other drivers liverys.

Those GT vs Forza wars are pathetic aslong they both are mediocre racesims with bad multiplayer. Sure they got nice graphics, but hell, the longevity is 0, the games don`t give me the challenge and thrilling online races that pc simracers do. But sure it would be nice with a PC simracer with such nice graphics :)

It looks great. But I won’t buy it.
I get TDU2, for PC and enjoy that.
It’s somewhat the same(ish) cars but you get a massive multiplayer.

And what’s so special about this? GTR2 has day-night transistion.
‘BUUT THIS LOOKS WHAAAAY MORE PRETTY’.
Really? GT5 day-night transistion looks better then GTR2? Woow! That’s amazing, given the fact that GTR2 has better graphics with everything else. Oh no, wait…

you guys are missing the point, we all know theyre pants games, thats why we’re on virtualr and play things like rfactor and RBR.

this post was about showing the day to night effects. they are AMAZING. Ive never seen proper night time like that before, in any game, where everything is proper dark apart from what’s being lit by the headlamps. Incredible.
Now if only they could bring it on pc so we could play lemans with authentic physics, sounds AND night time graphics. Imagine that…..

    Does anyone know if:

    - they got rid of the Gran Turismo single file start

    - and if 15 AI drivers will be in the game

(7 AI drivers is way too small starter field imo)

If it’s rolling start, it still might be single file start although at this point nothing’s confirmed. Standing start in GT4 and GT5P is always 2 in a row.

The max number of car in the game is 16 which means in single player mode, there will be 15 AI cars. This is of course depends on the track and event. Tighter tracks in GT5 Prologue have smaller 12 car grid. The online max number of player is also 16.

Shadow wise its inferior to rFactor 1.

Beside driving day time or at night, time scale allow you to appeciate the differents lighting of the day, with the shadows changing during the day.

I didnt see such in this video

Anyway being that good looking graphicly doesnt blind me in the physics department, it has shity physics, so it looks ugly to me…

Very nice and well done trick with exposure control and fading one sky texture to another. I think I saw it working the same way in Stalker and some other games. Only thing they missed is long shadows from things during sunset.

    Stupid Forza/GT5 fanboy…

Where some people can take pleasure to drive on a beautiful game but with only 10-20 cars???

Computer has the best motorsport game.
For instance, I see many people saying “”OMG, I want to drive Le Mans”

But in GTR2, you can drive in Le Mans with real cars (Peugeot, Audi, Ferrari, Corvette, ……) and with 80 AI drivers.

    Same in Nordschleife…

Toto: Stupid Forza/GT5 fanboy…Where some people can take pleasure to drive on a beautiful game but with only 10-20 cars???

Did you not get the memo? GT5 has 900+ cars. I don’t even think the rF community has that… Well, not 900 cars you’d actually download. I’m talking mods you’d play and enjoy.

Every game has flaws and detriment factors, but we have options. I don’t play ONE sim, I play many. RBR has rally, Race 07 is good for some pubbie racing, rF is for leagues, TDU is for cruising and whatnot and F1 2010 will be for a career mode á la FIFA where you can get a crap team and try and win a championship. They all have their problems and “oh snap!” features. GT5 seems to be the title to bridge the gap between some of these games. Has racing types for all, circuit/street/rally, day/night, career mode and a motherlode of cars. NO racing game or sim is perfect, so why in the hell would you say “this one’s crap, this is the best”? There would be no simracing community if there was only one perfect game.

For me, as a PC sim racer, i am also very upset about the online support of console games. and sadly i think GT5 will bring no improvements to that topic.
after the ultimate disaster with NFS Shift and its console inspired online mode, i am just shocked about what console gamers have to bear with. GT5 would be much more appealing to me if would have good online multiplayer battles on the track, no AI can match human behaviour (and dumbness).

the next big issue about GT5 and endurance races on, for example, le mans will probably again be that you can’t set the field of cars you race against yourself. GT5 will let you drive against Sauber C9s, Audi R8s and Toyotas Ones while i am driving a Peugeot 908. who the fuck wants this. I want to drive le mans with 4 lmp1, 4 lmp2, 4 gt1 and 4 gt2 cars. i have a feeling that won’t ever happen.

next thing are new cars. forza 3 brings a DLC with new cars every month. the content may be discussable, but it already had some great additions like the Aston Martin lmp1, the Audi R15 or the Nürburgring GP track. and players can paint own skins and offer them to other players. is there something known about DLC support for GT5?

They havn’t said yes or no about it. It will probably depend on what the fans beg for. They did mention 5 DLC cars in the Collector’s Edition, but I think these are all just early unlocked cars. It will take a while to get through 900 cars though :P Forza’s DLC cars do get them money, and it does seem to improve the life of the game. If they went the GT5 route and put them all in from day one, it probably wouldn’t have survived this long. I’d say PD could have done that, but as Kaz said before, he wants to make the game the best it can be.

‘Anyway being that good looking graphicly doesnt blind me in the physics department, it has shity physics, so it looks ugly to me…’

Actually it doesn’t, the GTTT demo with the Nissan 370Z had physics that are a match for any rFactor mod.

The big appeal with GT/Forza for me is every car has the same quality applied in terms of physics and graphics (GT5’s Premium cars may be differnt interior wise).

There are plenty of mods in rFactor with cars that appeal but they aren’t all upto the standards of HistoricX or Virtua LM.

I was incredibly surprised a couple of years ago when driving in rFactor for some hours and then suddenly seeing the day-night transition.

In fact I was totally blown away by that feature.

Then I learned that I hate night racing.

I agree that GT4 was quite lackustre when it comes to racing as well as physics but things have changed recently.

I’m quite sure Polyphony Digital has learnt more about racing since GT4. When GT4 was released, PD wan’t as involved in racing as they are now. Not only are sponsoring race team but also race events- PD has been the major sponsor of Nurburgring 24 Hours and title sponsor for Super GT and even Le Mans for the last couple of years. And even GT5 creator, Kazunori Yamauchi has recently started racing in endurance event. I’ve no doubt we will get a better and more comprehensive and customizable race, series and season. Even the online racing will be quite extensive and more robust- race clubs, custom private and public lobbies. Online is one component PD has spent a lot of time on.

As to future DLC, while PD is adamant that GT5 will be a complete game, they’re not denying that there will be future DLC.
